Fogarty HIV-associated TB Training Program for UCT-based researchers
1-month fellowship to the Graduate Summer Institute of Epidemiology & Biostatistics at Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health, Baltimore, USA
The Fogarty HIV-associated Tuberculosis Training Program has been established at the University of Cape Town in partnership with Johns Hopkins University and Vanderbilt University in the USA, and aims to develop the next generation of research leaders in this field at UCT. The Graduate Summer Institute of Epidemiology and Biostatistics (GSIEB) is held annually at the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. There are a wide range of courses offered in biostatistics and epidemiology as well as a course specifically focussed on the epidemiology of TB.
Three fellowships are in offer to attend the GSIEB (11 – 30 June 2018). These fellowships will be competitively awarded. There are two groups of researchers, affiliated with UCT, who would be eligible:
1] Medical doctors who are pursuing or intend to pursue research in the field of HIV-associated TB in the near future who have not undertaken a degree course which includes research methodology.
2] Researchers in the field of HIV-associated TB who have had previous formal training in biostatistics and/or epidemiology who wish to undertake a selection of more advanced courses offered at the GSIEB.
