The application of multiomic approaches to the characterisation of respiratory disease
Professor Luis Mur [Director of Research: Biology & Health, Aberystwyth University]
Host: Prof Nicole Mulder [IDM/CBio]
Professor Mur's group uses a range of multi-omic approaches to address the challenges posed by diseases. His group employs genomic, epigenomic, proteomic, metabolomic and microbiome approaches. His work is funded by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), the European Union, the National Health Service, FAPESP (Brazill) and commercial concerns.
Respiratory disease: Professor Luis Mur is collaborating with the National Health Service (NHS) providers throughout Wales (UK) in order to develop innovative approaches to identify clinically useful biomarkers linked to respiratory tract malignancies. Major strands of this research are focused on Lung Cancer and a complex of respiratory diseases leading to emphysema known as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
